Almost everyday we receive enquiries from purchasers of English and European caravans looking for a trailer plug adaptor to connect the electrics on their new caravan to their vehicle.
Unfortunately we have to tell them that such an adaptor does not exist. Most imported caravans have a 13 pin round male socket requiring an adaptor with a round female 13 pin socket to make the connection; but the problem is that all 13 pin female adaptors are designed to be screwed on to the back of vehicles with no waterproof model suitable for use on an adaptor being made.
We advise caravan owners with 13 pin sockets to take them to an auto electrician and get their 13 pin socket changed to a 7 pin flat plug. Yes, that does entail merging 13 circuits into 7, but it can be done.
Of course we are able to supply 13 pin socket adaptors to connect European Socket vehicles to Kiwi trailers, boats and caravans for $79.95 each inc gst plus $8.00 postage, packaging and handling if required. And please let us know if you know of a source of waterproof female round 13 pin sockets/adaptors, we could sell heaps of them!
